Rob Smith: A Lifetime Of Preparation For The Bench
For the last fourteen years Rob Smith has served in New York State Unified Court System as the Court Attorney for Warren County Judge John Austin and Warren County Court Judge John S. Hall.
Rob's public service in the courts includes:
- Extensive involvement in the establishment, implementation and continued operation of the first Judicial Treatment Court Program in Warren County.
- Advisor and confidential attorney to Judges Austin and Hall on all pending matters.
- Conducted countless conferences with attorneys and litigants representing themselves for family related cases involving: custody, parenting time, child support, spousal support, neglect, domestic abuse, grounds for divorce, equitable distribution, counsel fees, money judgements and pre-trial hearings.
- Conducting conferences on criminal offenses involving: domestic abuse, substance abuse issues, treatment court, plea bargaining and pre-trail hearings.
- Appointed Referee on uncontested matrimonial actions.
- General liaison between County Court Chambers and Warren County District Attorney’s Office; Warren County Public Defender’s Office; Warren County Probation Office; Warren County Sheriff’s Office; Warren County Assigned Counsel Office; Warren County Department of Social Services; Warren County Attorney’s Office; Warren County Administrator’s Office; Warren County Support Collection Unit; District Office for the 4th Judicial District, all local town and city courts, and all treatment agencies.
- Observing countless hours of trials and motions in both criminal and civil matters involving evidentiary issues.
- Drafting countless decisions and/or orders on various legal issues.
